Third Fuse writer, Phil McNamara, is an avid trail runner and averages four runs a week including a local Parkrun on Saturday morning (Cleland or Mount Barker).
Phil also likes to bring a Third Fuse element into at least one of his weekly runs by PLOGGING.
“Plogging: a new trend from Sweden where runners pick up rubbish along the way for the sake of the environment”
Macquarie Dictionary
Phil has done over one-hundred plogs and averages 2-3 kilograms of rubbish off the streets and out of the creeks each week. About half ends up in landfill (because it is not recyclable or too contaminated) but the other half is recycled (yellow street bin, Redcycle soft plastics, deposit scheme for bottles, cans and cartons, and textile recycling for clothes). Every now and then items can be repurposed.
